Reserved - Worn Portrait Of An Older Gentleman
An early 20th-century portrait of a smart older gentleman wearing a white shirt, black tie and jacket. With his stern expression and heavyset eyes, he looks like a man with an intriguing story.
The portrait has been varnished heavily and this has cracked in places to create a network of curved lines. However, rather than detract from the painting’s overall appeal, it only seems to amplify this gentleman’s tough appearance.
An unusual and highly atmospheric piece.
