Wilhelm Lichtenheld, Coastal Nocturne With Windmill & Jetty
A beautifully serene depiction of a scenic landscape that’s gently lit by a partially-covered moon. A windmill rests silently as a couple pause to admire the golden expanse before them.
Wilhelm Lichtenheld (1817-1891) had a gift for creating moonlit scenes that shimmer with golden light. His masterful approach blends his classical training with the confidence of an impressionist painter.
This particular piece could easily be considered as one of his masterpieces and it reveals a little more every time you approach it.
Lichtenheld studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich and his works are held in private and public collections worldwide.
The painting is housed within a gilded wooden frame with coved sides and a decorative border.
