Village View [Leon Riket]

DESCRIPTION

A fine impressionistic village scene by well-listed Belgian artist, Leon Riket (1876-1938). Riket was a painter of landscapes, family scenes, seascapes and still lifes, who studied at the Academy of Antwerp under Franz Courtens.

Courtens is known for being one of the first notable artists in Belgium to paint en plein air (outside) and he’s often cited as working during the transitionary period between realism and impressionism. As such, Riket would’ve received an enlightening education during a very exciting time for art.

You only pay for the cost of the actual frame (usually £30 - £50) as we include the labour for free.
