Village Street In Auvers [After Van Gogh]

DESCRIPTION

A slightly shabby vintage print of Vincent Van Gogh’s Village Street in Auvers.

In May 1890, Van Gogh travelled to the village of Auvers-sur-Oise, where he stayed for the final few months of his life. Spring tended to be his most positive time of the year and he noted that the small rural community was ’of grave beauty, the real countryside, characteristic and picturesque’.

This particular piece was one of several depictions of the streets of Auvers and it demonstrates his exceptional use of line coupled with a thick earthy tone.
