Portrait Of A Reclining Nude
An exquisite early 19th-century French portrait of a reclining nude wrapped in beautiful silks and laying on a red throw.
From the moment we spotted this ethereal work, we’ve been captivated by its presence. It seems to blend a sumptuous air of classical elegance with a moment of complete romantic abandon. It’s an absolute joy in person and one of our favourite paintings in the collection to date. It’s very special indeed and was recently held in a private Parisian collection.
There’s a good chance that it’s also much older than the date we’ve estimated as it’s been relined so it’s tricky to tell.
