Portrait Of A Gentleman With A White Cravat
An early 19th-century oil on canvas depicting Gottlieb Friedrich Wilhelm Von Both (1796-1870). He’s dressed in an outfit à la mode consisting of a dark coat, white waistcoat, and neatly tied cravat.
Little is known about this gentleman but we understand that he was married to Luise (1804-1892) and he held the position of ‘first administrative official of the Domanialamt Dargun-Gnoien-Neukalen’. We purchased the painting from Paris.
The portrait is housed within a 19th-century Louis XV revival style swept frame.
