A naive 19th-century half-length portrait of a seated female, believed to be a quaker, wearing a white bonnet and a modest black dress. A small red book, possibly a bible, is resting on her right thigh.

On the reverse, a supplier’s stamp dates the board to between 1862 and around 1890.
