Reserved - Louis Xavier Dordaky, Portrait Of A Lady With A Necklace
An adorable 19th-century portrait of a young lady wearing a simple brown dress and a crucifix necklace. She’s been painted with a great deal of affection so perhaps the sitter was known to the artist.
We could only find two other works by Louis Xavier Dordaky (1780-1859) so information on the artist is quite scarce. It seems that he lived in and around Paris and could be considered a genre painter.
The portrait is housed within a 19th-century Rococo revival frame with swept corners and foliate decoration. Signed on the reverse.
