Wechsler would've been entrusted with overseeing legal affairs, managing property, and safeguarding an institution that cared for many of the town's most vulnerable inhabitants.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's tempting to imagine that this portrait marked an important moment in his life. In 1760, his first wife, Maria Veronica, died at the age of just 31, leaving him with a young family. Decades later he published his 'Versuch einer kurzen Sammlung topographisch-historisch-statistischer Nachrichten', one of the earliest comprehensive histories of the Free Imperial City of Biberach.
