English School Mountainous Landscape With Figures
An attractive view across a mountainous landscape towards a distant expanse of water, perhaps a loch. In the foreground, two figures stand by an old solitary shack, which must have such a beautiful outlook, particularly at this time of day.
This lovely old painting has darkened over time, which has added to its overall decorative charm. We love it exactly the way it is and, as such, have decided not to clean or restore it.
It’s housed within a 19th-century Louis XV style frame with swept corners and extensive scroll and foliate decoration. A label on the reverse dates the board to between 1828 and 1855.
