RESERVED - Continental Portrait Of A Gentleman With Side-Burns

DESCRIPTION

A mid-19th-century portrait of a fashionable continental gentleman sporting an impressive pair of side-burns.

In the 1840s, stylish males often had rounded chests and flared frock coats, which gave them an hour-glass figure. They also tended to wear tight trousers, waistcoats and high upstanding collars. As seen here, hair was usually kept quite long and side-burns were all the rage.

Framing

If the images display the artwork framed, then the frame is included in the price. For those that are unframed, we can handle the framing for you should you wish. We always try to source frames that are appropriate for the age of the painting but can also provide contemporary alternatives if you prefer. You only pay for the cost of the actual frame (usually £30 - £50) as we include the labour for free.
