Cézanne Pencil Studies

Regular price £95.00

Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) was unquestionably one of the most important French artists of all time. His style seemed to live outside of current conventions as he continually reinvented himself to stay one step ahead of the pack. As such, he influenced not only the impressionists of the mid-19th century but also several of his later contemporaries such as Pablo Picasso.

This vintage gravure reproduces a page of pencil drawings that includes faces and figures. The young lady in the bottom left hand corner is probably the star of the show. In a simple quickly-drawn sketch, Cézanne has captured her expression beautifully.
