Boy With Riding Crop

Regular price £295.00

DESCRIPTION

A mid-19th-century English oil on canvas depicting a young man holding a riding crop before a landscape extending to distant hills. He’s dressed in a red tunic, which is belted at the waist, white shirt, and pantaloons.

On the back, the painting is inscribed with ‘CJW at the age of about 7 years’. Perhaps the initials of the subject?

The canvas displays a supplier’s mark from Charles Robertson & Son, which corresponds to the stencil used from around 1840.

Please just ask if you would like this painting to be framed and we will try to source something appropriate for its age. We only charge for the cost of the actual frame (approximately £50) and include the framing process for free.

You only pay for the cost of the actual frame (usually £30 - £50) as we include the labour for free.
