A 19th-century Dutch school oil painting depicting four figures making their way along a country lane. One gentleman is seated on a horse, while another is accompanied by a dog.

It’s a skilful little painting and the artist has created a nicely balanced composition. The tree on the left seems to guide our eye downwards and then out towards the buildings on the horizon.

There’s also a beautiful array of rich colours, which still possess their vibrancy - even after 150 years.
