18th Century Portrait Of A Lady
A beautiful oil on panel depicting a buxom lady with braided hair. It’s a very interesting little painting as it’s reminiscent of 17th century Dutch tavern portraits. However, as far as I can tell, this style of braided hair didn’t become popular until the 18th century, so I’ve dated it c. 1750 - c. 1800.
As you can see from the back, the panel certainly has a great deal of age to it.
Housed within an antique ebonised wooden frame.
