An atmospheric late 19th-century oil on board depicting a meadow before several buildings and trees.
The artist, Melchior "Melch" Kern (1872-1947), trained at the Munich Art Academy and worked in and around the City for most of his life. He generally painted scenes from rural villages and seemed to enjoy working in the landscape.
During his lifetime, he was represented at the Munich Art Exhibition and the Great Berlin Art Exhibition.
The painting is housed within a solid wooden frame and signed in the lower left.
