19th-Century Danish School, Flowering Bindweed

19th-Century Danish School, Flowering Bindweed

This vibrant 19th-century still life depicts a tangled array of flowering bindweed. It’s a colourful bounty of vivid new life. Through a mass of foliage and shades of green, the flowers spring forth and grow. They emerge through the leaves with a sense of youthful exuberance as if placed in the sun for the very first time.

The artist is unknown but they were evidently a keen student of nature.

Monogrammed, dated and framed.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
