19th-Century Danish School Portrait Of A Dashing Gentleman

19th-Century Danish School Portrait Of A Dashing Gentleman

A fine early 19th-century portrait of a gentleman wearing a white shirt and necktie under a handsome black coat with puffed sleeves. His hair is left long and he sports a good set of sideburns.

Perhaps there’s something behind those eyes that reveals a deeper side to his personality.

The portrait is housed within a 19th-century foliate frame with coved sides and swept corners.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
