Henrik Jespersen, Landscape With Forest Clearing

Henrik Jespersen, Landscape With Forest Clearing

An attractive landscape painting depicting a forest clearing in Autumn by Danish painter, Henrik Gamst Jespersen (1853-1936). He produced this towards the end of his life when his style had become easy and less refined. This was probably a place he enjoyed visiting.

Henrik Jespersen trained at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen and was known for his fine landscapes depicting views from the Alps and Zealand.

He received several prizes for his work and exhibited in Paris, Germany and Chicago.

The painting is monogrammed in the lower left.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
