This characterful portrait of the artist, Anton Müller-Wischin (1865-1949), captures him in a steely mood. With a carved relief on his right, he looks ahead with a knowing expression. He rests his right hand on a stick.
The painting is signed illegibly but clearly by a skilled hand. Müller-Wischin worked within a progressive circle of artists.
The portrait was originally held at the artist’s estate in Marquartstein, Germany.
