Berg [Edvin Ollers]

Regular price £235.00

DESCRIPTION

A tranquil depiction of a mountain and its surrounding scenery by well-listed Swedish artist, Edvin Ollers (1888-1959). Ollers studied at the Valand Art School in Gothenburg and his skills spanned several artistic disciples. Alongside his work as a painter, he also designed glass, tin, silver, cast iron and textiles, among other things.

His style of painting is often compared with the great French post-impressionist, Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) and it’s clear to see why. This particular work by Ollers is particularly reminiscent of the paintings Cézanne created around his hometown of Aix-en-Provence. But rather than the hills around the d'Azur region of southern France, Ollers has been inspired by the beautiful undulating scenery of his home country.

Ollers is represented in several museums including the National Museum in Stockholm, the Modern Museum in Stockholm, and the State Museum of Art in Copenhagen.
