2 x Dutch Interior Scenes [Van Den Brink]

Regular price £95.00

DESCRIPTION

A pair of unusual, highly worn, Dutch tiles depicting 17th-century interior scenes by Jan Hendrik Willem Van Den Brink (1895-1966). Both of these depict woman carrying out domestic tasks while surrounded by chickens within rustic Dutch cottages.

In the first, a woman in a brown top and dark green apron appears to be standing by a pot and preparing a meal. In the second, a bonneted-woman is either undertaking a handicraft or also preparing dinner.

If you look closely, you’ll notice that the chickens are running amok as they peck away at the cottage floor.

The tiles will be sent within their original frames to keep them safe during transit, but the frames are quite tatty so you may wish to either reframe them or carefully display them as they are. Personally, we love them unframed.

Signed in the lower right.

Framing

If the images display the artwork framed, then the frame is included in the price. For those that are unframed, we can handle the framing for you should you wish. We always try to source frames that are appropriate for the age of the painting but can also provide contemporary alternatives if you prefer. You only pay for the cost of the actual frame (usually £30 - £50) as we include the labour for free.
