Insights Magazine: April

What a month. Champagne, sailing, woodpeckers and a flügelhaben! And that was just the new arrivals... We’ve seen some fine works come and go throughout March including a characterful Austrian lady wearing a flügelhaben, which is a cap constructed of lace woven from thin strips of gold. They took over 200 hours to make and are still produced today.

March also saw the arrival of a familiar face – the Mona Lisa. I wouldn’t generally buy a copy but this one captures her enigmatic smile with distinction. For me, it’s the finest I’ve seen and it carries a great deal of atmosphere.

We’ve also added some longer reads towards the end along with some inspiration from the fabulous Emma Gurner and a wonderful interpretation of a Gwen John self-portrait.
